The City of Quesnel has announced that City Manager Byron Johnson is stepping down.
He will be leaving his position at the end of September to take on a new role with the District of Clearwater.
Johnson has served the community for a combined 18 years, including his initial role as the Director of Finance and Administration.
“It has been a privilege to serve Quesnel,” said Johnson. “Quesnel has been a great community to live and work in. The City has a really strong team of elected officials, staff, and volunteers. I have really enjoyed my years of service.”
Johnson was Director of Finance and Administration from November, 2004 to December of 2008.
He then became manager briefly in January, 2009 to September, 2010.
Johnson left to be the CAO of Sunpeaks before returning to Quesnel in August of 2012.
He was recently on a leave of absence from the city, but is now back.
Current Director of Finance Kari Bolton had been Acting City Manager since late April.
The search for a new City Manager is now underway.
