Central Cariboo Search and Rescue reminding everyone to stay safe this long weekend

The long weekend has arrived, and Central Cariboo Search and Rescue is asking everyone to stay safe.

As summer is still in it’s early stages, temperature and weather changes will happen, which is why being prepared by having a jacket is important.

Member and Public Relations Coordinator, Debra Bortolussi says being trained for whatever the activity can also help greatly.

“We haven’t got as much sunshine, so maybe people haven’t been doing as many outdoor activities as they would like.” says Bortolussi.

“We would love to see everyone be trained for whatever task they will be taking on.”

Bortolussi says this time of year is always busy for both land search and rescue and auto extrication.

She added that they’ve already seen an increase in call-outs and motor vehicle incidents, noting there should be no reason for that to happen.

As long as everyone does their part, Bortolussi says we can all have a wonderful and enjoyable long weekend.
