A Quesnel resolution endorsing the North-South Interconnector received overwhelming support at the BC Chamber of Commerce AGM in Kelowna.
93 percent of delegates supported it.
The motion called on the provincial government to act to ensure the timely, and safe provincial traffic flows near the city of Quesnel by replacing the existing, outdated, unsafe bridge and right of ways to allow a cleaner, more reliable provincial highway system around Quesnel’s downtown core.
A plan is already in place to replace the Quesnel River Bridge and the CN Rail overpass and to remove heavy truck traffic from the downtown core by adding a 3.7 kilometres section of Highway from North Star Road to River Park Road.
The estimated cost back in 2018 was 275 million dollars.
That was one of 42 resolutions that were passed.
Others focused on addressing community safety challenges and deficiencies in BC’s response to the toxic drug supply, lowering costs to businesses, incenting innovation, and addressing labour shortages.
