Two wildfires roughly 52 kilometres north west of Anahim Lake were discovered earlier today.
BC Wildfire Services are actioning one wildfire, which is currently sitting at 4 hectares in size, with the second at 20 hectares.
Fire Information Officer, Madison Dahl talks about the conditions of the fires.
“We are seeing a little bit of fire behavior just where there are a little bit more fuels.” says Dahl.
“There are some flames, and there’s definitely quite a bit of smoke in the area. Hopefully it’s not affecting anyone who may be in the area, but you can see it.”
Dahl added that there’s an initial attack crew on-site, with another larger unit crew and heavy equipment on the way, as well as air tanker support to determine what type air support is needed.
For now, crews are identifying any assets and getting a better understanding of the fire behaviour, with more objectives being established as they go along.
Both wildfires are classified as out of control.
More information on wildfires in the region and across the province can be found on the BC Wildfire Service’s website here.
