Suspect in serious assault in Quesnel pleads guilty to lesser charges

   One of two men charged in connection with a serious assault in Quesnel has pleaded guilty to two lesser charges in Supreme Court.
   34-year old Eric Heidemann pleaded guilty to one count each of possession of a restricted firearm and possession of a firearm contrary to an order and was sentenced to 9 months in jail and he also received a lifetime firearms prohibition.
   33-year old Jordan Cooper earlier pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and was sentenced to 2 years less a day in jail.
   All of these charges were in connection with a report of a suspicious occurrence at an apartment building on Doherty Drive back in October of 2021.
   RCMP say they located a man who had suffered serious injuries from an assault.
   Police say further investigation revealed that three men forced entry into the building and assaulted the victim.
   Charges were laid against two.
