Mount Timothy Ski Area In The South Cariboo Keeping It’s Eyes On The Skies

Even with all the recent snow that is falling in the region, they’re still waiting to get the ski season started at Mount Timothy in the South Cariboo.

“We’re just starting finally to get the snow,” General Manager Lona Groves said, “the much needed snow, six centimetres was our biggest snowfall so far this year. We are at about 30 centimetres currently and we’re just starting to track pack and get everything prepared for opening but it’s a process unfortunately and mother nature hasn’t been so kind.”

We asked Groves how much of a base they would need to get the ski season going.

“We opened last year with 45 centimetres so to open safely we would need to be about the same but the conditions would be marginal. We’ve never seen anything like this before, this is a first. Last year we did open ten days late but we were able to go a little longer into the Spring, we went into the second week of April last year.”

Groves noted that when Mount Timothy has a for sure open date that they will post something on their FaceBook page and website, you can also call the resort if you have any questions as they are open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm right now.
