Williams Lake City Hall was temporarily closed today (January 18).
Director of Municipal Services Rob Warnock said he got a call this morning at 8:30 from the Finance Department saying they had water coming out of the roof into the entrance way.
He said they shut the water off to the building temporarily until they could figure out what happened.
“We got Don Brown Plumbing and Heating over there, we had our electrician and then I ended up getting a hold of one of the fellas at the Complex that does all of our plumbing and heating as well and he found that we had a 90 degree elbow blow off the heating system in the roof.”
Warnock noted the front doors will continue to be closed but residents that need to come to City Hall can still do so by calling the number on the door to the front desk and someone will come to the side door to let you in then escort you out when you are done.
“This will be in effect tomorrow (Friday) and we’ll see what Monday brings. We just need time for the roof to dry out and we have some other testing Excel has to do on the roof for me and we’ll probably have to tear the gyprock out and get that fixed also,” Warnock said.
Warnock added the clean up work has been done and now there are drier machines in the entrance way doing the rest.
