The Cariboo is about to get its real first taste of winter.
Environment Canada has issued a Snowfall Warning for the Chilcotin, Williams Lake, 100 Mile House and Quesnel from today into tomorrow evening.
Meteorologist Alyssa Charbonneau said a Pacific low pressure system combined with very cold air will bring snow at times heavy to the region.
“For Quesnel amounts are expected to be near 15 centimetres and we’re looking at the snow to be heavy at times through today and into this evening. As we move further south towards Williams Lake and the Chilcotin we’re looking at between 10 to 20 centimetres today through Wednesday.”
Charbonneau noted the same snow that will be affecting Cariboo communities is also going to be bringing similar amounts of snow of 10 to 15 centimetres to most of the Highways including Clinton to 100 Mile House via the Begbie Summit.
Charbonneau said rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations and to be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.
When it comes to temperatures in the Cariboo Charbonneau said the Arctic air is going to start to diminish and they’ll be back closer to seasonal by the end of this week and into next week.
