The Williams Lake Salvation Army Annual Christmas Kettle Campaign kicks off this Saturday (November 25) morning just after 10 at Save On Foods.
Lieutenant Nathaneal Hoeft said all money raised from November 25 to December 24 will go towards much needed programs that are seeing an increase for their services.
“This year our campaign goal is 70 thousand dollars as one of our main fundraising for the year. Last year we came up a little short of that goal but we’re confident that this year we’re going to make it.”
Just how big of a need has there been for the Williams Lake Salvation Army’s help?
“We’re 30 percent up in food bank visits,” Hoeft said, “the share shelf has already had 73-hundred visits for so far and the year isn’t over yet making it the most ever, we’ve served almost 16,000 meals, and we’ve given out about 23-hundred hampers so far.”
Hoeft said coming up to Christmas season, they’ve definitely seen an uptick in those who registered through them for food for Christmas hampers, it could reach up to 900.
Williams Lake Salvation Army Christmas Kettles will be set up at:
the BC Liquor Store
Frescho
