Frustrations towards Interior Health continues from Williams Lake Council

Five weeks after the Cariboo Memorial Hospital Emergency Room closure, Williams Lake Council is still voicing their frustrations.

A letter was sent in to Council, dated October 25th, from Interior Health’s CEO, Susan Brown which included an apology, a brief overview of their review results and the steps moving forward.

Mayor Surinderpal Rathor says the letter wasn’t well received by council.

“Council has not received any note on meeting us. That’s what council’s request is.”

“Number two, to go over the reasons and find the facts, and whatever the report is so we can discuss.”

Rathor added that the issue now is why they don’t want to meet with council, and says only they can address that.

So far, Interior Health (IH) has set up two meetings with the Williams Lake First Nations, and a meeting with the Cariboo Regional District this Thursday, November 9th, over Zoom.

After last night’s council meeting, another letter will be sent to IH and to Brown to have a meeting with council, whether it’s in person or through Zoom.
