Williams Lake got an improvement towards active living for the upcoming 2024 cycling season.
In a release from Streets for All Williams Lake, the project is in partnership with Scout Island Nature Centre and funded through the Williams Lake Community Forest, to bring in new bike racks.
The project brings in seven new bike racks to the community, through the identification of high priority locations.
As for where the locations of the racks are, they said they have been installed near Spirit Square along Oliver Street, the Central Cariboo Arts and Culture Centre, Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex, under the covered seating area in Boitanio Park, with two bike rack pads poured and wo bike racks at the Scout Island Nature House and by the Boat Launch.
The new racks will look to have more people choose cycling as either recreation or transportation, reducing the demand for vehicle parking.
The project was funded by a $5,000 Williams Lake Community Forest Grant, the City of Williams Lake public works staff and volunteer labour and supplies.
