100 Mile House Fire Department put out structure fire

100 Mile House Fire Department responded to a structure fire, which had begun from a wildfire.

On October 30th, at around 11:30am, crews arrived on scene in the 5900 block of Horse Lake Road, and were assisted by 108 Mile House VFD and Lone Butte VFD to fight the fire before further spread.

Fire Chief David Bissat says crews were able to put out the fire before the house was fully damaged.

“Fire crews assisted an occupant to safety and performed an interior attack, and quickly put the fire out in the home that spread into the trusses and roof.”

Bissat added that he had the other departments take care of the wildfire that was quickly spreading to nearby barns and equipment.

As to how the fire was started, he says it was due to burning being done, which grew because of wind.

Bissat noted that the size of the wildfire was half an acre.
