The 58th Annual Senior’s Expedition to Barkerville proved to be the most popular one yet…and they haven’t even left Quesnel to go on it.
Rotarian Organizer and Quesnel Mayor, Ron Paul, said the turn out for seniors wanting to take this year’s trip was incredible.
âOur sources say that we had people lined up at the Seniors Centre at 6 am yesterday (Aug 1) morning which was 4 hours ahead of the time that the doors were slated to open and it sold out in less than an hour. We do have a waiting list of about 22 people. The wait list may be re-activated if we get cancellations.â
Paul noted that the trip was filled up last year but it certainly took a lot longer than an hour for the sign’s up to be completed.
âYes we were full last year but it certainly took a lot longer than an hour for the sign ups to be completed. Last year maybe was a little bit of a surprise that we were back up and running but this year was absolutely incredible.â
He added filling up in such a short time really speaks to the popularity of the event and after 58 years it’s certainly a well known and well appreciated event.
Paul said they are grateful to Rocky Mountaineer who have provided buses to them at no charge which is a huge savings of money and the trip will happen on Thursday August 24.
