Williams Lake Curling Club “Swept Away” By Winning An Award

“Honoured and speechless”.

That was Vice President of the Williams Lake Curling Club, Rick Miller’s reaction when he found out that Curl BC was giving them the Curling Centre of the Year award.

“When I went to a symposium for the future of curling in BC, to meet the people who run the big club’s like Vancouver, Richmond, and even Chilliwack who hosted it, just amazing clubs and to be picked as the curling centre of the year when I see everything all these clubs are doing we were blown away. It’s such an honour to be in that group.”

The Williams Lake Curling Club was recognized for numerous efforts put in by their volunteers ranging from donations to charitable local agencies to making their facility accessible to all members, and events to engage the community and further the sport of curling to mention a few.

Miller noted it wouldn’t have been possible without the efforts of many dedicated people.

“Except for one paid employee we are completely volunteer. Everything we do is on volunteer time for our club. The number of volunteers we get out so that we can continue to do and grow is just amazing. It’s really a big recognition to our club members who support us as well as our volunteers that are always out there for the tough jobs.”

The Williams Lake Curling Club is a not for profit society and has been around since 1947.
