Cariboo Job Numbers Take Another Hit

November was another rough month for employment in the Cariboo.

Andrew Fields, a Labour Market Analyst with Stats-Canada, says the jobless rate was 7.1 percent last month.

That is up from just 4.8 percent in November of 2014.

Fields says the number of people working in the region dropped to about 80 thousand from 85.

He says the natural resources sector took the biggest hit with about 4 thousand fewer jobs.

There was also a decline in educational services but there were some increases as well in both the manufacturing and wholesale-retail trade sectors.
