Snow To Blanket Quesnel And Williams Lake

Heavy snow is expected to fall in Quesnel and Williams Lake.

Alyssa Charbonneau, Meteorologist for Environment Canada said right now they’re tracking a system that should bring light flurries starting this afternoon.

“We’re expecting the chance of light flurries this afternoon and this evening, but really beginning near midnight is when we expect the snow to intensify. Heavy snow at times will continue into Tuesday and right through the day and it will be towards the evening when we’ll see that snow tapering off.”

Charbonneau noted that right now there is a bit of uncertainty about exactly how much snow might fall but there is a potential for up to 10 centimeters for areas like Quesnel and Williams Lake and 10 to 15 centimeters for communities to the east as you get into the Cariboo mountains.

“Along with this we’re also seeing a risk of some freezing drizzle either this evening or freezing rain tomorrow as well so a real mix of wintery conditions for the next day or so,” Charbonneau added.

Another system is expected to pass through the region starting on Thursday bringing warmer temperatures and rain with it.
