Two motions submitted to the Union of BC Municipalities by the City of Williams Lake were passed and a third is being considered post-convention.
The two motions that were passed at the convention addressed the general physician shortage and calling for stronger sentencing and consistent use of electronic monitoring for prolific and repeat offenders.
A third resolution urging health authorities in the province to grant online access to health records for allied health professionals in BC is being considered post-convention due to time constraints.
In addition, Council attended a virtual meeting with Minister of Citizens Services Lisa Beare, Attorney General & Minister Responsible for Housing, and Minister of Municipal Affairs Josie Osborne regarding the recent Central Cariboo Housing Capacity and Gap Analysis report and to discuss opportunities for housing in Williams Lake.
The City says they will continue to communicate with the Province to ensure follow-up and an action plan for these initiatives.
