Negotiations between BCAA and COPE 378 are at a standstill with no end in sight.
Emergency roadside assistance workers have been locked out since June 5th, after some workers are expected to work 40 hours a week while others who work similar positions only put in 35.
Union President, David Black says he’s heard several horror stories from customers.
“We are hearing stories of people waiting several hours for a tow truck, people having their calls hung up on or being told the problem is too complicated and cannot be helped.”
Black adds their worst fears regarding tow trucks are being realized.
“It’s one thing to be sitting on the side of the road for three hours in June or September but it’s quite another to be sitting that long in November or January.”
As a result, the roadside assistance line which serves BC and the Yukon is being staffed by managers working 70 hours per week.
