The water levels in the Fraser River in Quesnel went up quite a bit over the weekend.
Sylvain Gauthier, Quesnel’s Emergency Services Coordinator, confirms that it is now at the highest level it’s been so far this year…
“Yes over the past couple of days the Fraser has risen and that is mainly due to the high temperatures we had last Tuesday and Wednesday and the heavy rain on Thursday-Friday.”
Gauthier says he expects the Fraser in Quesnel to peak over the next couple of days and then slowly recede with the help of the cooler temperatures that are in the weather forecast.
He says we are still well below 471.5 metres above sea level, which is the level that they really start paying attention.
