Council Approves Development Permit For former Lake City Ford Site

The redevelopment and zoning of 715 Oliver Street in Williams Lake was unanimously approved at Tuesday night’s regular city council meeting.

Mayor Walt Cobb says he thinks the project will be a real bonus for the Lake City.

“It’s been going on a while. I know that they’ve had some issues because it was an old gas station and of course they had to look at all of that and test the grounding, so that took time but I’m really excited about it when you look at what they’re planning. It’s going be great for the entrance of Williams Lake.”

Cobb says construction on the project which will accommodate prospective retail and a drive-thru restaurant will hopefully start on June 1, 2017.

The applicant, Wensley Architecture on behalf of Ronald J. Ridley and FortisBC declined to comment on the project at this time.

The City will now forward the amended zoning bylaws to the Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure for and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.
