raising awareness for the blind in williams lake

It was the second of two open houses to be held in the Cariboo to raise awareness during White Cane Week.

In addition to educating Williams Lake residents, Canadian Council of the Blind National First Vice President Lori Fry spoke about another important reason for holding these sessions.

“Quite often an information session like this can actually save somebody’s life believe it or not. They go into a depressed state, they become reclusive,  don’t feel like going out and it’s not about just feeling like it, it’s about feeling confident enough to go out”.

Fry said the feedback she received from those who attended the open house at the Williams Lake Public Library was very positive and that they were very glad that they came.
