Students at Thompson Rivers University in Williams Lake will benefit from one-hundred and fifty thousand dollars in funding toward an early childhood education program.
The course will prepare them for a career working with children in their communities, an occupation which is much needed according to Cariboo Chilcotin M-L-A Donna Barnett
“Now that we have more daycare spaces particularly in the Cariboo Chilcotin and in Williams Lake I do know there is a lack of early childhood educators, and so this is great and it’s an opportunity for young people to get their education in Williams Lake and they don’t have to travel”.
Students enrolling in the early childhood education program will receive in-class learning with hands-on experience through practical fieldwork.
The course is set to start October 31st.
