Two missing men who were rafting on the Chilcotin River yesterday afternoon have been located following a search near Williams Lake.
North District Media Relations Corporal Madonna Saunderson explains how the RCMP were notified.
“The RCMP in Williams Lake received word that two gentlemen had not returned from a rafting expedition that had been predetermined location to be picked up and when they failed to return the Williams Lake RCMP were notified and a search was activated”.
This morning Search and Rescue located one of the men on the north side of the Chilcotin river in the Alexis creek RCMP Detatchment area, sadly he was deceased.
Police were notified that the other male was located alive by other people in the area and transported to Williams Lake.
The name of the deceased is not being released at this time and the Williams Lake, Alexis Creek RCMP and the BC Coroner’s office continue their investigation.
