A parade to celebrate a Williams Lake Olympic Bronze medalist is set and ready to go this saturday.
City Councillor and local rugby representative Jason Ryll, explains how this plan came together to honor Kayla Moleschi following the success of the Canadian Womens Rugby Sevens Team in Rio.
“Myself and the coach of the Williams Lake Rustlers men’s rugby club got together with some other community volunteers I suppose to recognize Kayla for her accomplishments, so we thought what better way do that than with a parade. We also wanted to expose the community at large to the sport of rugby”.
The parade will begin saturday morning at ten proceeding down Borland Street and right onto North Third Avenue to Marie Sharp Elementary where local dignitaries will speak and the community will have an opportunity to have pictures taken with Moleschi and her Bronze Medal.
Ryll says there will also be an introduction to Rugby workshop at 11 followed by a touch Rugby tournament from Noon til two at the Marie Sharpe Elementary Field.
