Today marked the official launch of the national public inquiry into missing and murdered indigenous women and girls.
Cathy McLeod, MP for the Kamloops–Thompson-Cariboo speaks about what the inquiry is hoping to accomplish.
“I think the 2 things that it has to accomplish is to give some sort of peace and resolution to the families and the communities and 2nd, in a way that has not been done to date provide a real path forward.”
McLeod says she is urging the government to provide police with the resources they need to bring the perpetrators to justice adding that their sentencing should reflect the serious nature of the crimes that have been committed.
