The Williams Lake Airport received provincial funding to enhance their fuel tank storage.
Airport manager Shea de la Mare, says they’re pleased of Thursday’s announcement of $150,000.
“We identified several years ago that our fuel system was outdated and needed to be redone and rebuilt, so this funding application is just wonderful news for the airport.”
Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett says the funding comes through the Ministry of Transportation.
“There’s a program, it’s called B.C Access Safety Program and it’s a four-year program with $10 million dollars in and a lot of the regional airports will be getting funding. Kamloops got some, South Cariboo got some, and it’s all for safety.”
Barnett adds that the funding will not only be a benefit to the airport but those landing and forestry fire suppression crews.
“They have a portable one now (fuel tank) and they need a bigger one because they have lots of traffic-commercial airlines and of course the forestry suppression crew is here and when there is a fire, fuel goes out of here every day.”
