Canadian Hockey Legend Gordie Howe passed away in his Ohio home Friday morning at the age of 88.
Howe, who was known as “Mr.Hockey” was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972 after playing 26 seasons in the NHL winning the Stanley Cup 4 times to go along with 6 Hart Trophies and 6 Art Ross trophies.
Howe holds the record for most games played in the NHL with 1767, sits 2nd in all time goals with 801 and 4th in all time points with 1850.
Known as a complete player he also was responsible for the coining of the term “Gordie Howe Hat Trick” which is given to players who score a goal, an assist, and get in a fight in the same game.
Howe is survived by his 3 sons Marty, Mark, and Murray, his daughter Kathleen and 9 grandchildren.
