MP Says Immediate Action Needed To Stop Gang Violence In Williams Lake

“Unacceptable and Appalling.”

That is Cariboo-Prince George MP Todd Doherty’s response to the shooting in Williams Lake.

He says this morning incident and the fatal shooting of an alleged gang leader a few weeks ago shows that something has to be done immediately as well as long term.

Doherty says a coordinated law enforcement agency, a gang task force, would help in the short term making it known to these gang members that they’re not welcome in the community.

He says long term solutions would include getting to the root of the problem and try to break the cycle of some of these prolific offenders and the groups that are following them.

Doherty says there are a small group of prolific offenders commanding an army of 200 and that is what is gripping the city in fear and holding Williams Lake hostage.

Something going on in the Cariboo you think people should know about?
