Quesnel City Council’s Plan To Borrow 10 Million Dollars On Hold.

Quesnel City Council’s plan to borrow 10 million dollars to build a new public works facility are on hold.

The results from a reverse petition process were released at last night’s meeting.

They were read by City Manager Byron Johnson.

723 responses or 10 percent of the eligible electorate were required.

Johnson confirms that as of the closing date at 4-30 on April 4th there were 777 eligible electors who had submitted their opposition totalling 10.75 percent.

Johnson, as the corporate officer, confirmed that at a result the approval of the electors was not received.

As for what’s next, staff will come back to Council with a report on possible options.

One possibility is a full fledged referendum.
