McLeese Lake Fire Hall Build To Begin This Spring

A dream a decade-plus in the making is about to come true.

The McLesse Lake Volunteer Fire Department is anticipating to begin Phase 1 of their Fire Hall build this Spring.

Fire Chief Linda Bard said they expect it to be completed in about 6-months.

“We’ve taken down trees and we still have to flatten the ground and then a base will be laid and we’re hoping to have the first phase of the build buttoned up not as a fully done Department but somewhere to park our trucks so we can so that we can run them all year with no issues of freezing.”

Phase two of the build will include all the offices and training rooms which Bard said right now the McLeese Lake Volunteer Fire Department has a training room that’s in the Community Hall.

In a letter to residents in the community back in late November, the Department stated that it anticipated the cost for Phase 1 will be over $500,000.

Over the past several years, Bard said they were able though various fundraising efforts and donations to save $119,000 to use on the project.

Once the Fire Hall is completely finished Bard said it will be very beneficial to the Department as right now some of their gear is stored at the Community Hall and other gear that is stored on other properties in the community.
