Annual Recruitment For The Williams Lake Fire Department On Now

The Williams Lake Fire Department is looking for a few good men and women.

They are currently accepting applications during their annual recruitment for paid on-call firefighters to help provide a critical service to the community.

Fire Chief Evan Dean said the department currently has just under 40 active members and are looking to bring in another 8.

Dean noted that they’re recruiting to bolster their ranks and are currently accepting applications until March 28 for paid on-call firefighters.

“The main thing is be over 19-years of age, living within the Williams Lake Fire Protection District, and physically fit, and we are also looking for people that are interested in helping out the community and want to do a little bit more.”

Dean said no prior experience is needed to apply for the Williams Lake Fire Department.

“Once we bring people on we train them to the full North American Professional Firefighters Standard and that takes typically about 6-months for initial training and that’s actually a 2-year program.”

If you have a burning desire to give back to your community, the Williams Lake Fire Department wants you.
