Williams Lake Firefighters Try To Save Home In The Glendale Area

The Williams Lake Fire Department responded to a structure fire yesterday (Monday) afternoon in the Glendale area.

Assistant Fire Chief Cory Boyd said they were dispatched around 3:39 with reports of flames coming from the roof.

Upon arrival a portion of the building was fully engulfed and fire quickly spread to the rest of the home. Crews faced challenging access but they did manage to knock down the flames and focus on extinguishing hot spots.”

Boyd said the fire was contained to just that one structure which was a complete loss and that no one was injured.

After interviews and observations from the early stages of the fire Boyd said the probable cause is the wood stove but it’s not confirmed.

The Williams Lake Fire Department responded with 2 Chief Pickups, a Ladder truck, 2 Engines and 22 firefighters.

Boyd added that most of their members were clear of the scene by six that evening while the Ladder truck and 8 firefighters remained and worked the City backhoe to ensure the fire was out.

The Williams Lake Fire Department reminds the public clear access around home and properties can significantly improve firefighting operations, help protect nearby structures, and ensure the safety of their members and the Community.
