Development projects, tax assessments, permits, and having a sit down with the new BC Hydro Chair were all tabled for “further discussions when more information is gathered” in last night’s Williams Lake City Council meeting.
Councillor Scott Nelson brought forth six of the 14 items on the Council meeting agenda last night [Tuesday]. The items for housing such as Westside Crown Lands and Pioneer Complex development options, tax assessment confirmations, and shortening cutting permit processes.
“We are in need of housing,” Councillor Nelson says. “This is just to get a nod from Council to get the ball rolling on creating additional housing.”
All the councilors in attendance, and Councillor Joan Flaspohler remoting into the meeting, agreed that all the topics and items brought forth were needed for Williams Lake’s future.
City Staff said the Westside Development plan and Pioneer Complex options needed to be considered at “a much later date” as staff has not done the necessary surveys and reports yet.
The motions were passed to be tabled for future meetings and next month, as more City Staff can do reports and more information is acquired.
Other items that were on the agenda included having City Council and City Staff continue to make Williams Lake a top liveable city for seniors to come and retire to, an MOU renewal in support of artists in the community, a UBCM Grant Application, City Hall’s lights be purple on May 12 for “Light Up for Fibromyalgia”, and that March 26 be known as “Purple Day” and City Council be lights be purple at the request for BC Epilepsy Society.
All items and motions were approved.
