Walmart Canada To Match Kettle Donations Collected Today At Their Williams Lake Location

The bells will be ringing loudly at one particular kettle location in Williams Lake.

Today (December 21) it’s the 15th Annual “Fill the Kettle Day”, a partnership between Walmart Canada and the Salvation Army.

Kettle Campaign Coordinator Sarah Jackman said Walmart will generously match all donations made by customers today from noon until 6 pm.

Jackman said this will certainly help them to get close to reaching the total they hope to collect this Holiday Season.

“We are a little bit behind our goal of $70,000. Our total right now, in the 19 days we’ve done so far, is just short of $49-thousand, and just over eight thousand of that has come directly from Walmart customers. I’m really hoping that they can be generous with a donation once again and have Walmart match it.”

Jackman said a large percentage of the donations they collect through their Kettle Campaign comes through the mail.

“They come from individuals and businesses that write cheques as donations at Christmas time. We haven’t started receiving them yet but we know they will be coming. All the funds that we raise through this annual campaign stay in Williams Lake providing food, shelter, and essential services to everyone in the community who are struggling to make ends meet.”
