Transit numbers in the Cariboo have increased across the board so far this year.
Senior Media Relations and Public Affairs Advisor, Jamie Weiss says overall transit use in the three communities has also increased.
Quesnel’s use increased by 8.1 per cent, Williams Lake saw an increase of 5.8 per cent, and 100 Mile House rose slightly by 2.9 per cent.
Quesnel became the twentieth community to switch fare payments to BC Transit’s Umo system. The online, app, and preloadable card fare payment system arrived at the beginning of December. Weiss says via email that Transit has received positive feedback on the system in Quesnel so far.
Transit has also received positive feedback on its NextRide service. NextRide is an online real-time bus tracking service that allows users to see buses on their routes.
BC Transit hopes to use the feedback to enhance its systems in 2025.
