Wildfire Rehabilitation Project Scheduled To Begin As Early As October 31st

Wildfire Rehabilitation Pile Burning will be getting underway in the West Chilcotin.

Cariboo Chilcotin Natural Resource District and BC Wildfire Service will burn approximately 400 piles of woody debris and unutilized log decks at multiple locations to facilitate wildfire rehabilitation objectives.

Burning will start as early as tomorrow (October 31) and continue until approximately November 30th.

Smoke may be visible from Highway 20 and areas around Anahim Lake, Nimpo Lake, and Tatla Lake.

Piles will be burned at the following locations associated with 2023 wildfires:

Trumpeter Mountain, Anahim Peak, and Young Creek all near Anahim Lake, as well as Hell Raving Creek near Bluff/Middle Lake East of Tatla Lake.

Burning will only occur on days when site and weather conditions are favourable and allow for smoke to dissipate.

All efforts will continue to be made to utilize merchantable fibre to reduce emissions where feasible.
