Heavy Snowfall Contributed To A Couple Of MVI’s In The South Cariboo

Weather conditions had 100 Mile House RCMP responding to a couple of motor vehicle incidents.

On Friday October 18, police received a report of a single vehicle collision on Highway 97 near Trout Road.

Police attended with Emergency Health Service (EHS) and it was determined the vehicle had left the roadway, down an embankment and onto another road that paralleled the Highway.

“The single occupant of the vehicle received injuries that were believed to be non-life threatening and was taken to hospital by EHS,” Staff Sargeant Brian Lamb said.

Lamb said road and vehicle conditions were contributing factors as it was snowing heavily at the time and the tires on the rental vehicle were in poor condition.

That same day, Police responded with EHS to a collision involving a pickup truck and a dump truck on Highway 24 near Thomas Point Road.

“It was determined the dump truck was travelling westbound on Highway 24 and the pickup was going east,” Lamb said, “The pickup lost control and crossed the centre line and struck the driver side of the dump truck.”

He said there were no injuries and heavy snow falling at the time and road conditions were a contributing factor.
