Palliative care patients in the 100 Mile House are will have access to two new Oxygen Concentrators.
The South Cariboo Health Foundation purchased the concentrators to give the community palliative care patients, through the TB Vets Charitable Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps support hospitals with respiratory diseases and conditions by providing and funding equipment through a yearly respiratory grant.
Danielle Sabiston, Public Relations and Fundraising Coordinator for South Cariboo, explains that these new concentrators will allow the patients more freedom.
“These Mini Portable Oxygen Concentrators, are backup concentrators that are smaller and will allow palliative care patients the freedom to get out and about more,” Sabiston says. “They are good in case of any power outages, as they last a little longer.”
Sabiston added that the new concentrators will be loaned to the palliative care community, as not everyone applies for the Home Oxygen Program, and that these portable concentrators were a high demand of the 100 Mile House hospital.
