Thompson Rivers University Williams Lake Campus Invites You To Their Open House

Thompson Rivers University Williams Lake Campus will be laying out the welcome mat.

Tomorrow (October 22) from 9 am to 3 pm they will be hosting their annual Open House inviting residents to explore the campus and to discover what it has to offer.

Kim Kimberlin, Marketing, Student Recruitment and Events Coordinator, said they’ve also reached out to community partners to have them set up booths as well.

“We really thought that was important for the community and anyone visiting to see how the community is here to support students because it is such a big journey that people have to take when they go back to school.”

This years event includes interactive displays, campus tours, and the opportunity for visitors to meet faculty to ask questions about programs offered and to explore the resources available to students who may want to attend the University.

“We’re trying to have different booths set up for each of the programs and we’ll also have people from Kamloops coming down as well.” Kimberlin said, “Whether people are interested in attending a program in Williams Lake or Kamloops they will be able to find information about that program. We’ll have different tables for Bachelor of Science and Nursing, Early Childhood Education, the Regenerative Agriculture program, which is only offered in Williams Lake.”

Kimberlin added that booths will also be set up for trades: Electrical, Heavy Duty Mechanics, Residential Construction, Welding and Saw Filing.

“We will also have our Academic Advisor and some student recruiters on site. They can actually sit down with you that day and look at your background and let you know what you would need to get into that particular program you may be interested in because we do a lot of upgrading at this Campus.”

Kimberlin noted that tomorrow’s open house is a great way for people to connect with TRU and see first hand what studying here looks like.
