31 people were impacted by the fire at the Bridges Supportive Housing building.
Tammy Janzen, Executive Director of the Quesnel Shelter and Support Society, says they do have what’s called an emergency continuity plan.
“We’re going to initially take people over to Seasons House where they can be inside, get something to eat, a cup of coffee, what not, and establish who can come home, when they can come home, if they can come home and then move forward with securing shelter from there on out if they can’t come home.”
Janzen says it may be hard to find spaces.
“We don’t have enough spaces and currently there is a mill shutdown so all of our hotel spaces are booked, so I am going to speak to the City and see if they can assist us with some emergency shelter space if need be.”
Tanya Turner, the Director of Development Services with the City, confirms that they are working with the society to provide Emergency Support Services.
