“We do not, and have never, experienced an emergency department closure at G.R. Baker Hospital in Quesnel.”
That is Northern Health’s response to a number of potential closure dates that were posted on-line.
Several of those dates have already passed without a service disruption.
Northern Health says it will continually work to fill any available shifts n the horizon to prevent an E.R. closure.
It adds that schedules are drafted weeks and months in advance, and at early stages when shifts are unfilled by available staff they begin escalating efforts to prevent service disruptions.
Northern Health says there are however, times when all options for coverage are exhausted and a service disruption is required as a last resort, which again has not yet happened in Quesnel.
