Horse Lake Water System Boil Water Notice Rescinded

The Cariboo Regional District said residents no longer need to boil water from the Horse Lake Water System in the South Cariboo before consuming it.

Interior Health authorized the end of the boil water notice after receiving two satisfactory samples from the water system, and after confirmation that all maintenance activities have been completed.

Residents are reminded that a Water Quality Advisory for Manganese remains in effect.

The CRD said questions about the health impacts of manganese in drinking water should be directed to a family doctor.

The Boil Water Notice for the Horse Lake Water System was issued back on September 18th by the Cariboo Regional District as a result of firefighting activities at the time draining the reservoir below 35 percent and that substantial sediment was stirred up and pressure was not maintained.
