A Quesnel man has been sentenced for second degree murder in Supreme Court.
54-year old Joseph Simpson was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 14 years and 6 months.
The crown and defence submitted their recommendations on parole eligibility yesterday and Justice Schultes delivered his decision this morning.
Simpson was found guilty of second degree murder following a trial and also pleaded guilty to a charge of interference with a dead body at the start of his trial.
He was charged in connection with the death of 33-year old Carmelita Abraham who was reported missing by her family back on January 4th, 2022.
Investigators determined that she had left Williams Lake for Quesnel about a week prior to that.
RCMP said at the time that the accused and the victim were known to each other.
