There was an incident at Correlieu Secondary School in Quesnel this (Tuesday) afternoon
RCMP and BC Ambulance were called to the school just after 1 and students were placed in what is called a hold and secure.
School Superintendent Dan Lowndes said “I can’t give you a lot of details at this time. I can tell you it was a student incident and out of the respect for those involved I really can’t comment further at this time.”
Lowndes says as they get information from the school they will then be able to share more information with parents.
He says a hold and secure is a tool they use for a number of reasons.
“Whether it’s ensuring safety, sometimes to give space within a school, or perhaps even for allowing for the students to maintain dignity. I know sometimes we’ve used a hold and secure on schools if there is a medical intervention happening for example in the hallway.”
