Cariboo junior hockey teams stumble to start week two

Continued struggles and a fizzled out win streak was the theme of Friday night’s Kootenay International Junior Hockey League’s Cariboo games.

The 100 Mile House Wranglers began the weekend in Creston Valley, where they fell to the Thunder Cats 4-3 in regulation.

The Wranglers had an uphill battle, being down 3-0 a minute in to the second period, but Jaden Rusznak not only scored the teams first goal but had an assist on the next two.

Shots were 44 to 28 in favour of the Wranglers.

The Williams Lake Mustangs took on the Osoyoos Coyotes last night, looking to extend their win streak to three.

However, the Coyotes ended the night with a 6-2 win, having three goals in the first, with the Mustangs first goal coming in the last two minutes of the second on a power play by Jacob Shtaif.

Shots were 44 to 38 in favour of the Coyotes.

Tonight, the Wranglers take on the Fernie Ghostriders at 7:00, with the Quesnel River Rush hosting the Coyotes at 7:00 as well.
