Quesnel’s Board of Education has submitted its requests for its proposed minor capital projects.
They total $3,389,000 to a few different funding pots.
Secretary-Treasurer Jennifer Woollends says the biggest request is for just under one and a half million dollars for an exterior upgrade to Ecole Red Bluff Lhtako elementary school to the school enhancement program.
“This is a similar project that was done to Bouchie Lake this past year and Lakeview and Dragon Lake in the most recent years. That would be redoing the insulation and the exterior finish on the building to try and help with energy efficiency and longevity of the building.”
Woollends says thee are also a couple of requests for Correlieu Secondary to this funding envelope.
“One is for an interior construction upgrade for exterior doors, windows and T-bar ceilings. That project was 950 thousand dollars, and then the other project is for asbestos flooring removal and installation for 350 thousand.”
Woollends says they are also requesting 500 thousand dollars from the carbon neutral capital program for a new HVAC system at Bouchie Lake Elementary, as well some new LED lighting at Pinecrest Elementary.
Lastly, she says they are looking for funding to replace some playground equipment at Lakeview and Barlow Creek Elementary schools.
There are no funding requests for new buses this year.
Woollends says they expect to find out if they will get the funding or not in March.
