Williams Lake Fire Department responded to a call for commercial fire alarms at the former Glendale Elementary School.
Assistant Fire Chief, Cory Boyd arrived at around 5:00 this morning, but once on scene, nothing was showing as to where the fire could have been.
Boyd says he found the fire in the building shortly after.
“Upon further investigation, there was a small fire that I could see through one of the windows looking into the building.” says Boyd.
“Crews responded shortly after and were able to get a quick knockdown, and prevent anything from extending into the actual building structure.”
Boyd says two chief trucks, two duty trucks, and one engine with four members were on scene for around 30 minutes.
He added that the department did reach out to RCMP for a look, but at this time the cause is undetermined and can’t confirm if it’s suspicious or not.
