Two Cariboo Chilcotin organizations get funding to help reduce plastic waste

The Province is providing funding to various businesses and organizations to reuse and recycle plastic and support jobs.

It said the money is part of the CleanBC Plastics Action Fund, with two of the 32 recipients being in the Cariboo-Chilcotin region receiving a total of $106,544.

Ulkatcho First Nation will be receiving $51,920, with Delve Recycled in Williams Lake getting $54,626, to help develop creative and effective ways to repair, reuse and recycle plastics into new products to reduce waste.

The funding for Delve Recycled is part of a new pilot category, regional plastics innovation, supporting projects based outside the Lower Mainland and the Capital Regional District.

An additional $8 million will be distributed in the final funding intake for Phase 3, with the next projects to be chosen in early 2025.

More information and where to apply can be found on the Province’s website here.
