B.C.’s Lieutenant-Governor delivered the throne speech yesterday (Tue).
Judith Guichon says they will look into affordable housing across the province.
“This month your government will take steps to ease the burden of living increase costs, the province will look into any allegations of improper behaviour in the housing market and where appropriate government will take action.”
Food and Beverage was also the highest it’s ever been in B.C earning over the 3 billion dollars.
Guichon expects that number to go even higher.
“This year the province will continue it’s work to increase provincial revenues on agri-foods and seafood’s to 15 billion a year by 2020.”
The B.C. government would like to see people address the high food prices by promoting people to buy local through farmers market.
The Lieutenant-Governor also expects LNG demand will increase with price plus be vital contribution worldwide with B.C. being a leader.
“We have a choice to either keep it stable or grow it but I think we must begin to export or the 13 thousand people who depend on this industry today will be out of work.”
Speaking on behalf of Premier Christy Clark, Guichon says the government will have a balanced budget.
Stikine MLA Doug Donaldson says he’s concerned about what this could mean for the north, based on Clark’s track record of debt.
Donaldson says he also hopes there is more emphasis on the area’s natural resources.
