Longtime Prince George MLA out-Cariboo North MLA’s future still unknown

For the first time since 2001, the Prince George-Valemount riding will have a new MLA.

Shirley Bond announced this afternoon (Thursday) she has decided to withdraw her candidacy after yesterday’s shock announcement from BC United Party leader Kevin Falcon that the party’s campaign would be suspended for the upcoming election.

Bond, like others in the BC United Party, said the announcement came as “a complete surprise.”

Bond was first elected in 2001.

Still no word on the fate of Cariboo North MLA Coralee Oakes.

Oakes is serving her 4th term.

She was ready to run for a 5th in the new Prince George-North Cariboo riding.

Sheldon Clare was announced as the BC Conservative candidate in the riding but it is still unclear if that will change.

Something going on in the Cariboo you think people should know about?
